Unipart Dorman’s Mk3 Colour Light Signal (CLS) has achieved full Network Rail Product Acceptance and is now readily available for new and existing installations.
Unipart Dorman, a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative rail and traffic management products, has announced its Mk3 Colour Light Signal (CLS). It is now fully integrated into Unipart Dorman’s manufacturing and test facility at Southport after receiving full product acceptance from Network Rail in summer 2025.
The Mk3 CLS unit is a new patented design which builds upon all the existing benefits that Unipart Dorman signalling products are renowned for such as:
- Enhanced safety
- Zero maintenance
- Reduced installation and alignment times
- Lower whole-life costs
- Reduced working at height
- Long, predictable and reliable performance
The Mk3 CLS delivers demonstrable improvements through:
- Anti-phantom optical improvements: The new Mk3 CLS design delivers improved anti-phantom performance that can be retrofitted into the existing Unipart Dorman Classic and iLS/CLS LITE signal heads. The Mk3 has a new electronic and patented optical assembly, with an innovative ‘close up’ display. This latest design development simplifies and reduces spares holdings through its universal signalling module.
- Flexibility: Available as a 110VAC (current & double cut proving) and 24VDC version (with double cut proving). Plug coupled and hard wired options also available.
- End of life replacements for TI180: Fully retrofittable into existing housings, the perfect solution for replacing life-expired ‘Classic’ modules. No need for design changes, simply wire in the Mk3 module to the existing cables.
James Simester – Technical Director commented:
“Achieving full product acceptance for the Mk3 CLS is a testament to Unipart Dorman’s commitment and focus on continuous collaboration with the industry to innovate and improve our signals to deliver increased safety and efficiency.
Our dedicated design & development team have delivered a patented solution that further enhances the safety and performance of rail operations. The product range provides solutions for reducing phantom aspects and installation time by 90%, whilst ensuring the lowest whole-life costs.
We look forward to continuing to partner with our stakeholders to streamline operations, minimise lifecycle costs across its signalling assets, and drive the future of UK rail performance.”
